Practice

Mr Hussein Taki is a UK-trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Addenbrooke’s Major Trauma Centre, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He specializes in complex trauma and reconstructive surgery, with particular expertise in pelvic and acetabular fractures, complex lower limb trauma, and primary and revision hip arthroplasty.

01

Clinical Expertise

Mr Taki is dual fellowship-trained in pelvic trauma and complex arthroplasty, enabling him to manage both advanced fracture fixation and reconstruction. This includes “fix and replace” procedures for acetabular fractures, a highly specialised area combining acute trauma management with joint replacement techniques. His clinical practice involves the regular management of multiply injured patients within a high-volume tertiary referral major trauma centre, serving a population of over 6 million.

Mr Taki participates in the Major Trauma on-call rota and manages complex tertiary referrals through dedicated specialist units, including the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit (OTU) and Cambridge Orthopaedic Pelvic Unit (COPU). His case mix includes high-energy trauma, periprosthetic fractures, and complex revision arthroplasty, including cases involving infection and significant bone loss.

02

Expert Witness Practice

He provides independent medico-legal opinion in both personal injury and clinical negligence cases. His areas of expertise include pelvic and acetabular trauma, lower limb fractures, and complications arising from hip and knee arthroplasty. He is trained in all aspects of expert witness practice, including Part 35 compliance, report writing, and joint statements, and is committed to producing clear, balanced, and evidence-based reports.
